I bought a steamer three years ago and it was only last week that I started using it. Good thing my friend brought us a huge pack of pork dumplings and ribs that ‘forced’ me to bring the steamer out of the box. Hi hi.

After steaming the first batch of pork dumplings, I realized how wonderful a kitchen gadget it is and how easy it is to use. Since then, steamed meat or fish are part of our weekly menu.

I tried steamed tilapia, too. Since I had planned to fry it, I didn’t have the all ingredients for this dish. But that didn’t stop me from preparing it the healthy way. So what I is:

Clean the tilapia. Make sure every bit of scale is removed.

Rub salt on the fish.

Line the steamer (container) with aluminum foil. Foil should be large enough to wrap the fish.

Pour light soya sauce. I used about 5 tablespoons.

Put crushed garlic on the sauce.

Place the fish in the foil and wrap.

Steam for 40 minutes.

Serve.

It tastes really good! I’ll try it next time complete with spring onion, Chinese wine and gingeroot. Pick-up the recipe here.
