I bought a steamer three years ago and it was only last week that I started using it. Good thing my friend brought us a huge pack of pork dumplings and ribs that ‘forced’ me to bring the steamer out of the box. Hi hi.
After steaming the first batch of pork dumplings, I realized how wonderful a kitchen gadget it is and how easy it is to use. Since then, steamed meat or fish are part of our weekly menu.
I tried steamed tilapia, too. Since I had planned to fry it, I didn’t have the all ingredients for this dish. But that didn’t stop me from preparing it the healthy way. So what I is:
- Clean the tilapia. Make sure every bit of scale is removed.
- Rub salt on the fish.
- Line the steamer (container) with aluminum foil. Foil should be large enough to wrap the fish.
- Pour light soya sauce. I used about 5 tablespoons.
- Put crushed garlic on the sauce.
- Place the fish in the foil and wrap.
- Steam for 40 minutes.
- Serve.
It tastes really good! I’ll try it next time complete with spring onion, Chinese wine and gingeroot. Pick-up the recipe here.
