Shopping Plan On Hold

My plans to invest on kitchen equipment and accessories are officially on hold because of our recent major purchase.  We got a new computer.. and a Mac at that! Weebee!  The long wait was worth it since I had to make sure that it is a Mac and not a PC that I want.  That the specs we’ll get is what I need.  And that I foresee a long term partnership with a desktop (or iMac) compared to a laptop, which I’ve had for nearly five years.

So for now, I declare that all my future shopping plans are on hold!  Or, until I get rich through pa1d blogging.  Hah!

Get More Sleep

I have always been a ‘light’ sleeper.  A slight click of the door, taps on the floor or snores can wake me up in a snap.  And the problem is going back to sleep.  It’s like my mind boots up like a computer as soon as my eyes open.  My brain starts to process things like my to-do’s the following day, things I missed doing the previous day, what I want to cook for the day.. ah, those little things!

Thankfully, I don’t have to worry about our bed.  It is true what they say about not scrimping on the mattress.  It doesn’t have to be extremely expensive but most importantly it should help achieve a good night’s sleep.  That plus a beautiful bed frame made of either leather, wood or metal and matching accessories like headboards or night tables.  And of course, a room with walls painted in a pale shade of yellow and beautiful curtains to boot.  That’s bedroom heaven!

Just look at the wide range of beds by Time4Sleep, there’s Bali motif, rustic oak appeal and the no-fail divan beds.  Their slashing off prices for these and the delivery fee is very cheap.  Take a peak at their website and be tempted to upgrade your bedroom!

I Heart Corelle!

Last week, I chanced upon a dinnerware sale at BigW.  To my delight, the Corelle set of 16 is sold for 40bucks!  That’s only 1,200php.  So I readily got a box that I will give to my sister, who is now dolling-up her condo unit.  From what I know, the selling price in Manila is about 3,500php.  Good deal, eh?

A Wannabe Cook

I’m planning to learn more dishes in the coming weeks. There’s this interesting freebie recipe book that arrived by mail last week and there are a lot of beef and pork dishes I would like to try. On the side, I’d like to learn new desserts, too. And when I become a kitchen expert someday, I’m sure my husband will cry out for weight loss pills! Ha ha.

How Time Flies

Our daughter, these days, have funny sleeping habits. She sleeps in a proper position and would wake up at the foot of the bed. She needs to have her shoes on. Yep, we can only remove them when she’s already in deep sleep. Also, she must have her shampoo bottle beside her. I also notice that she’s no longer happy with small pillows but prefer the bulky ones, the ones that we use. These are signs that she’s really growing up fast. Soon, we would have to shop for a big bed (with good bed frames) and have her sleep in her very own room.

Saved by the Bell

I panicked a bit when a day before the wedding (where our daughter will be a flower girl) that we were told that the husband should wear a coat and tie. We thought it was a Filipiniana affair with the men wearing Barong Tagalog. So, at the last minute, I hurried off to see my sister and ask if my brother-in-law has a set that fits the husband. Good thing he did, I chose this dark blue coat that happened to fit my husband perfectly. I also borrowed a silver tie from his silk ties collection. I just bought matching pants and a blue long sleeve shirt at the mall that day.  Phew!

No Pets Allowed

Our little girl is showing signs that she loves pets. We brought her to the zoo the first time and she loved looking at the animals and was even ready to chase an aggressive goose! When she sees dogs or cats, she makes out the sounds and is never scared to go near them.

I’m not looking forward to the day that she will ask us for a pet. Caring for pets entails a lot of responsibility. The food and other necessities like pet beds; can be overwhelming to add to the budget. Crossing toes, that day will never happen.

Our Little Girl's Room

I started fixing Amelie’s room to make it some sort of her playroom. Right now, her containers of toys are scattered all over the house. I know even if we designate a room for her playtime, it’s not possible to restrict her to play in one place.

Anyway, I’m thinking of ways for her to have a feel that the room will be HER room. I’ll hang some of her cutesy photos on the wall, put a lot of pillows around and arrange her play mat. What if I put a digital signage by the door that would bear her name? I wonder if she’d like it.

In My Dreams

The little time I had to shop for myself during the holidays, I managed to grab a pair of flats, which I really like. It’s bronze and can fit jeans and leggings or even a dainty dress. I thought I fitted it pretty well at the store, I even walked a few steps wearing the shoes, but as soon as I got home, I realized I needed a size bigger. Boo. Well, I managed to get a new pair a few days after but got it in a different color.

Here’s another pair, which I would like to have. It’s an Oscar de la Renta pair and it looks so sexy on the feet! But it comes with a hefty price. So for now, I’ll just wear them in my dreams.

A First for Everything

My daughter had the opportunity to be a flower girl at a family friend’s wedding in December.  We had our scare the first time she tried on her beautiful gown during the fitting.  As expected of a two year old, she cried her heart out as we try to put it on her.

But she made us proud when on the day of the wedding, she wore it with ease.  And as expected, the wedding ceremony was a success.  The church decoration, which was made more beautiful with the flowers and pillar candles, helped the couple standout as they professed their love for each other with God and their lovedones as witness.
