Fancy RC Toys

Each time we go to Rhodes shopping center, my daughter would stop at this small store that sells different kinds of remote control toys. She gets so excited about the rc helicopters that the sales attendants there sample for potential customers. She’s thrilled at the sight of these flying toys that I was tempted once to get her one. I had second thoughts in buying because it might be too early for her to play with it as she is only two.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

I often hear people say that Christmas holidays are their favorite time of the year. Not for religious reasons but to them it is the time to forget about dieting (like giving up on Phentermine for a while) to indulge in food and drinks.

For me, a big part of my excitement of celebrating the holidays is being with my family and friends. And an even bigger reason is to commemorate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, from whom all blessings (such as peace and love) flow.

How's your Christmas Shopping List?

I’ve been blogging about my shopping list since October and up to now I have managed to cross-out only 5 out of 25 from my list. I would like to believe that it is best to start Christmas shopping in January. Sigh.

If gift shopping for family and friends is something like choosing company give-away such as promotional pens, then it will be very easy. But for me, Christmas gift shopping is more personal and heart-felt; otherwise, there is no real meaning to the word “giving”.

Hooked to Steamed Food

I bought a steamer three years ago and it was only last week that I started using it. Good thing my friend brought us a huge pack of pork dumplings and ribs that ‘forced’ me to bring the steamer out of the box. Hi hi.

After steaming the first batch of pork dumplings, I realized how wonderful a kitchen gadget it is and how easy it is to use. Since then, steamed meat or fish are part of our weekly menu.

I tried steamed tilapia, too. Since I had planned to fry it, I didn’t have the all ingredients for this dish. But that didn’t stop me from preparing it the healthy way. So what I is:

  1. Clean the tilapia. Make sure every bit of scale is removed.
  2. Rub salt on the fish.
  3. Line the steamer (container) with aluminum foil. Foil should be large enough to wrap the fish.
  4. Pour light soya sauce. I used about 5 tablespoons.
  5. Put crushed garlic on the sauce.
  6. Place the fish in the foil and wrap.
  7. Steam for 40 minutes.
  8. Serve.

It tastes really good!  I’ll try it next time complete with spring onion, Chinese wine and gingeroot.  Pick-up the recipe here.

Getting Ready to Move

It looks like we are moving to a new place this year. There were discussions yesterday between my husband and the house agent and we are hoping that the results today will be favorable. Last night, I went to check the house listing on the Internet to see the photos to sort of kick-start my planning for the move. I know it’s premature to plan for it but I did so anyway.

We viewed the house once over the weekend and we can’t remember all the details anymore. So from the photos, I checked the windows, whether we need to put up curtains or bamboo shades. But from the photos, all the windows have blinds properly installed. The flooring of the main areas are carpeted (a minor downer) and that means getting a couple of new rugs.

I’m pretty excited to organize the house if things push through. It will be a lot of work for sure but it’s all part of the experience. I’ll write about the rental application results soon.

Yummy Scents

I recently asked a friend, who really knows about fashion and other girly stuff, regarding perfumes. You see, I stopped using perfumes since I got pregnant and that was almost three years ago. Now, I think I can get away with wearing one from time to time. My friend recommended D&G Light Blue and Clean. I’m excited to look for it and try it out.

I was very loyal with Clinique Heart and I used it for as long as I can remember. But I feel like making a change and that includes the scent I wear. I never liked heavy scented perfumes and my friend promised that the D&G brand is very feminine and refreshing.

I haven’t really been to a lot of stores here in Sydney since we’re relatively new here. So my next move is to ask friends for cheap perfume stores in the city. I can also check an online perfume guide for price comparison. I’m excited to shop for this!

No Krispy Kreme For Now

For two weekends in a row last month, we brought home Krispy Kreme donuts.  We stayed away from it for a long time because we all know how sweet their flavors are but at that time, we gave in to those tempting treats.  When we brought a box home and had some for breakfast the following day, I munched into something ‘rubbery’.

I spat it out of course and realized that it was a thumb-size portion of what looks like a latex glove!  What I did is to put it in a zip-lock bag and decided to bring it to the store at Macquarie Center, here in Sydney.  Along with friends, we went to the store and the lady there initially offered KK vouchers, which I declined to get.  What if the rest of the donuts have the remaining portion of the “latex glove”? Hah!

So, she said that she’ll bring the “sample” to their head office and promised to call me back.  It’s been over a month now and still, there was no call.  I know it’s not as alarming as seeing a dead ant, fly or rat on the donut.  But I feel that they could’ve done better in dealing with the problem.

So for now, goodbye Krispy Kreme.

Natural Way to Lose Weight

If I had to go on a diet, I would opt to have a weight loss plan that will not involve diet pills. I prefer a Nutrisystem plan where I’d receive a supply of healthy meals and snacks that are apportioned to my dietary needs.

Although the changes will not be drastic, I think that a Nutrisystem diet plan combined with regular exercise is a more natural way to lose weight. What I like more about is that I wouldn’t worry about starving myself to death in order to keep away from food. Instead, I will have 3-5 meals a day that will supply the energy I need day to day.

I think even if it’s not for weight loss purposes, this diet plan can work very well for those who would like to maintain their current weight. They key here is healthy eating and this is what Nutrisystem offers.

Let the Games Begin

All work and no play make Jane a doll girl. Back when I was in the workforce and I had a busy project schedule, I always dreamt of one day finding time to pick up a hobby. I wasn’t sure then of what I wanted to do outside work, so I thought of zany stuff like taking scuba lessons or learning billiards!

The thing about getting into sports or a hobby, you need to invest time and money. I’d say, not a ludicrous amount of money (well, it depends on how deep your pocket is) but let’s take billiards for example, you need specific accessories in order for you to learn and enjoy the activity. There are pool cues, pool cue cases, a pool table and billiard balls to name a few must-haves. And that’s just for starters. You might find that serious hobbyists even invest in billiard apparel. This goes for almost all other hobbies I know of.

The website where I discovered this stuff is pooldawg.com. The company sells anything and everything related to pool or billiard games. Many fans of the game for sure have created their accounts with pooldawg.com and purchased a lot from the wide selection of game accessories. Head to their website to find out more about their products.

My Apple

Ito po ang aking computer may apat na taon na ang nakakaraan.  Madalas ko ito nagagamit dati ngunit ng dumating ang aking Dell, nakapahinga sya ng madalas. :)

Maligayang LP!

oOo

I bought this IBook four years ago which I rarely use since I bought a Dell laptop.  This Apple machine, which I named Macky, has a slow processor and small memory capacity.  But whenever I travel, I’ll still choose Macky over my Dell because of its weight and size. :)

Happy LP!
